About Us
Located in Tilden Park in the hills above Berkeley, California, the Golden Gate Live Steamers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit museum whose mission is to operate a miniature live steam railroad, to teach, inform & promote model engineering craftsmanship for the benefit of our members and to educate the Public on what live steaming & model engineering is all about.
Our club facilities include about 5,000 feet of 7.5", 2,000 feet of 4.75" dual-gauge ground level track and a 1,100 ft High Track loop consisting of 4.75", 3.5" and 2.5" triple-gauge track.
Members Sammy Tamez, Rich Croll & Rick Zobelein running on the 7.5" gauge outer & inner loops
We run a train carrying the Public for free (but donations are gratefully accepted) every Sunday from Noon to 3:00 pm, depending on the staffing, weather and permission from the authorities. Our station entrance is located just a bit further and below the Redwood Valley Railroad's passenger loading station.
If you love trains and enjoy participating in running & maintaining a railroad, please come check us out by coming to any of our monthly club meetings & introduce yourself. Our club meetings are usually held on the second Sunday of each month starting at 10 am but please check our club calendar for the actual dates.
